The Veri-OCR is an on-line system, which offers a fast repeatable and accurate code verification. It verifies the presence, legibility and correctness of the batch / lot / best-before code applied to product packaging.
Offering more than just “ink blob” detection the system uses OCR/OCV technology to enable product processors to reliably check and verify all coded products at speeds of up to 1000 products per minute.
By combining the Veri-OCR system with the printer in a mechanical belt arrangement, it ensures that where the printing and the verification is performed immediately one after the other while the product is constrained, you get a very reliable printing and verification of the code on the product.
Alternatively using the optional rotation software allows verification of codes in any orientation therefore allowing verification downstream of the printer.
When the pack codes do not comply with the pre-set code, the system rejects the pack from the line therefore ensuring that only validated packs are further processed on the line. Alternatively you can monitor successive products for failure to comply with the pre-set code. This will stop the line and raise an alarm for operator action.
The Veri-OCR system helps product processors reduce re-work or product recalls due to incomplete, illegible or missing codes.

In order to verify the text and the OCR character set, the Veri-OCR system analyses a number of samples of the same text or OCR character set to build a font profile for the text or OCR character. The trained text / OCR font profile is subsequently stored and used to verify the match between the trained set and the subsequent production set.
The changes to font set from one type to another is very simple and can be performed very quickly after the initial introductory training by our engineers during commissioning of the system. Training a good variation of the font type allows the system to cope well with line to line variations and also in variation in time. The system is able to verify codes produced by traditionally difficult to check print technologies, including ink-jet printing.
Optionally the customer's own batch code methodology can also be accommodated via the system's automated code change features, enabling the system to automatically synchronise to day / shift/ batch changes as necessary. |
