The Veri-PACK is offered both as an on-line and off-line system to enable either a sample (at the start, middle and end of batch) or 100 percent verification of the pack labels. In addition to checking the data on the product label, it will also verify any base label as well as the promotional /flash label at speeds of up to 200 packs per minute in the case of the online system.
The Veri-PACK system is linked with a QC data server, which provides a database for the verification data and an electronic archive of the results/ images after verification. Therefore it eliminates any paper trail. Retrieval of the results is very simple via the web browser, also the electronic archive forms the “Expert Witness” in any due diligence litigation in the future.
On the main label the system verifies correct label identity, proper label placement (on-line system), correctness and legibility of the crucial over-printed data such as the dates, price and weight. Additionally it also verifies the product barcode and correlates it with any embedded information
(weight or price etc) with the over-printed data. For the online system the combination of a 100 percent verification of the barcode at speed ensures very high barcode scan rate at the checkout. Secondly, by monitoring the barcode quality bar it provides the food processors with a proactive check on printer element failures.
Labels that do not comply with the pre-set identity, placement or validated data are rejected from the line (therefore ensuring that only validated packs are further processed downstream). The Veri-PACK system helps the food processors reduce re-work, product recalls and EPW fines.

The Veri-PACK systems use latest image processing techniques to analyse the label image and in conjunction with custom developed font processing algorithms it stringently inspects both the label and the overprinted data on it. The sophisticated algorithms and other vision tools are hidden from the user to ensure the ease of use.
The change to font set from one type to another is very simple and can be performed very quickly after initial introductory training by our engineers during commissioning of the system. Training a good variation of the font type allows the system to cope well with line to line variations and also in variation in time.
Finally the QC data server allows validation of any incoming data by the QC manager before it is used by the Veri-PACK systems on the line. This provides an independent data source for verification on the line.
The verification system is modular in construction and is available as a basic system with add-on modules for integration into production lines to suit individual requirements.
The system generates production statistics in terms of batch yield percentage and inspection rates. |
